What I'm Reading (and, why I'm one of the biggest nerds ever) *Updated

*It took me about an hour to get through, but it was well worth it. I've never read a graphic novel before, but there was something brilliantly fitting about this medium in telling the story of the 2008 campaign.

Who wants to try one with me?

Again, I wasn't planning on posting a video, but this had me on the floor (especially if you've seen the real ad on TV)

Why Was this Ad not mentioned in 08'?

This ad from 1968 seems like one that pundits would have jumped all over to compare a certain Vice Presidential candidate to? No?

Is That it for Post-Partisanship? *Updated X 2

The Economic Stimulus bill has just passed the House 244-188, mainly along partisan lines. When the Internet stops being stubborn, I'm going to pull out who the cross-overs were and take a look at it.*

Although this is just my opinion, I do believe that the final version of the bill (after the Senate passes their version and conference) will have much more Republican support. There are two reasons for this:

a. It's going to be substantially revised in the Senate/Is going to pass with a much broader coalition in the senate. Moderate Senate Republicans in states where Obama won in 08' are going to face enormous pressure to vote for the bill.

b. It is not in the Republican parties political interest to be against the stimulus. This is particularly true for those republicans in places like Ohio or Michigan. Should they vote overwhelmingly against the final version of the bill, which the public (by large portions) wants to pass, and if the stimulus actually does improve things by the 2010 midterms, the Republicans are going to pay once more if they are the anti-stimulus party. (At the same time, I recognize that it is in some republicans interest to vote against the bill no matter what. My point is simply that there will be much more bipartisanship in the house in the final version of the bill comparative to this initial vote).

*Thomas.gov does not have the vote up yet, so it's not my research skills. Will update again when it goes up.
*As Per Politico: "It appears that not a single Republican votes "yes," and only ten Dems voted "no.""

Bush vs. Obama: Bush Wins?

That's right. When it comes to late-night talk shows, the past eight years have been a comedian's wet dream. Many people have suggested that it's not going to be possible to laugh at President Obama because it doesn't appear that he has the one glaring flaw that our previous presidents had (Clinton- the ladies and Big Mac's; Bush-ability to speak English).

While I'm positive that there will be many things that we can poke fun at with our current President in the near future (and really hope so as this type of humor is a very healthy form of discourse in our democracy), for now we still have good old Joe.

Enjoy:

I'm Revolted

Has anyone ever seen this show: Man vs. Food.

This lunatic of a man has now eaten a 4.5lb. steak in 29 minutes, and is currently embarking on an 8lb. cheeseburger in an hour and eight minutes.

What is the Travel channel planning on doing when his heart just decides to explode on him?

There are just no words.
